Overview
One Revolution Coffee is a unique coffee shop located within the Sandra Day O’Connor Federal Courthouse. Operated entirely by adults with intellectual disabilities attending One Step Beyond, Inc., the coffee shop offers high-quality coffee and an inclusive environment that fosters independence and vocational skills for its team members. This project was an end-to-end brand identity development led by Kristin Woosley, who crafted the name “One Revolution Coffee” and shaped the brand’s entire visual and experiential identity.
Objectives
Create a Meaningful Brand Identity – Develop a name and brand elements that reflect the mission and inclusivity of One Revolution Coffee, emphasizing its role in the courthouse and community.
Build Recognition and Visual Appeal – Design a cohesive brand that resonates with courthouse visitors, employees, and the local Phoenix community.
Support Vocational Opportunities – Build an identity that not only highlights the coffee shop’s quality but also conveys its mission of empowerment for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Approach
Naming – The name “One Revolution Coffee” was selected to symbolize positive change and empowerment, echoing the shop’s mission to provide growth opportunities and a welcoming experience for all customers.
Brand Identity Elements – Kristin developed a logo, color palette, typography, and visual motifs. The logo incorporates clean, bold lines with a circular design, symbolizing unity and the idea of a “revolution” or full-circle moment of community impact.
Store Environment Design – Visuals and branding within the coffee shop were created to feel inviting and inclusive, with clear signage and easy-to-read menu layouts that foster accessibility. Elements of the brand identity reflect themes of warmth and community.
Supporting Materials – Kristin designed employee uniforms, coffee cup branding, signage, and other customer touchpoints. Each element was carefully selected to reinforce the shop’s mission and appeal to courthouse visitors and Phoenix locals alike.
Results
The brand identity of One Revolution Coffee has successfully established a positive reputation in the courthouse and the local Phoenix area, connecting with patrons on both a mission-driven and aesthetic level. The brand’s cohesive visual identity reflects its core values, making it memorable and impactful. Additionally, the shop has become a source of empowerment for its employees, helping them gain confidence and independence within a structured and supportive work environment.
